What other machines could have been coin-op but nobody had the idea? [Jan. 19th, 2009|01:40 am]

This was inspired by my Last post :-)

Clearly not every type of machine that could have been coin-op was... What are some good ideas designers missed, or perhaps are 'more possible' today?

Did you know there were coin-operated typewriters? [Jan. 19th, 2009|01:36 am]

rauldandrea
That's write.

Add them to the ranks of coin-operated radios and coin-operated bed massage machines :-)

I heard about them tonight on an old radio show where a bunch of people were using them in a library, and after one guy poisoned another with a candybar, he continually fed dimes in the dead guy's typewriter to give himself and alibi.

I haven't seen one with my own eyes, but someone clearly wrote a story which totally revolved around them...

Put your hand in my mouth... [Nov. 23rd, 2008|05:30 pm]

The Mouth of Truth is a coin-operated machine that looks like the Mouth of Truth in Italy and speaks in a deep commanding male voice to attract attention: "Put your hand in my mouth"

After you play the game, you actually receive an elaborate print-out with your fortune... I have a very faded one within arms reach from days gone by... Maybe I'll transcribe to here one day...

Anyway, device is tall, rectangular, thin and white with black Letters...

Sorry about the pics... I was in a darkly lit but totally awesome funhouse on the Atlantic City, NJ boardwalk called a "Ripley's Believe it or Not Odditorium"

Do you enjoy that Madam Esmeralda calls herself 'I'/'me'? (She also speaks by-the-way, including using these pronouns-- We just don't have this For Download here...) Then you might also enjoy the objectpersonify LiveJournal forum...

My Diane :-) [Sep. 20th, 2008|05:33 pm]

rauldandrea
Yes I name my things :-)

First saw something similar in a movie theather lobby and had to have one...

Then some guy on eBay was selling 8 of the ones in the pictures below. I wanted one, not an entire tribe of them :-D (Well, once you have 2, it just kinda goes on from there :-D)

Anyway, nobody bid, so he broke up the lot.

The one in the movie theather was just the game on the left. Mine has both. She's a very heavy girl...

Let Her :-)

Incidentally, I did discover that despite the appearance (two different coin slots), you can't play both games at the same time...
